Insulation Testing of Motors

I am looking for a testing procedure for insulation testing of motors.

We install new motors and VFD's on existing motors.

I want to test all new motors to get a bench mark of their condition when new.
I also would like to test the existing motors before we connect a new drive to it.

Are there and standards to test to and test proceedures?

ANSI/NETA ATS (Acceptance testing specifications) will have all of the test procedures and values recommeneded by any applicable recognized standard. One common mistake people make with motors when establishing baseline data is not tempature correcting the test results to 40 degrees C. Likely follow up tests (PM) will be done when the winding are still pretty warm and temapture has a huge effect on the indicated results.

Specific tests would depend on the voltage and HP ratings of the motor.
