I believe the military is going to start using it in IRAQ. Now I don't know if that has been adopted everywhere or just in military installations.
 
Since the IEC is more of an administrative document that refers us to the NEC, it seems the NEC is going to be used more and more places than ever before.
 
It is translated into Spanish and has been adopted by several South and Central American countries. If I am not mistaken, it has also been adopted by one or more of the Arab countries. :)

I believe that there is a Korean version and that Saudia Arabia also uses it. I had a list somewhere that showed all the countries it was used in.

Even upstate New York has a few isolated areas that are beginning to use the NEC. :D :D
 
Actually, the IEC 60364 is widely used around the world as a base document for electrical installations. The NEC even references it in 90.1(D) - FPN.

Marc may be referring to ICC's electrical administrative code which is all but useless. I believe ICC is discontinuing this document at the next 2009 cycle.

The NFPA claims 40 plus nations use the NEC are parts of it...
 
The NEC is:

  • The worlds most widely adopted safety code
  • Adopted by all 50 states
  • Formally adopted by Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, & Columbia
  • Used in most South American Countries
  • Recognized in 13 countries other than the USA
  • Translated into Spanish, Korean, and Japanese
