Is a cabin a dwelling?

Most of the cabins and/or bunk houses that I have slept in have more mice and rats than people sleeping in them so I wouldn't really recommend using NMC anyways.

Used to cowboy a lot. Was funny to wake up and see a mouse or rat making off with your lighter or something, was scary as heck waking up to gun fire as some guy was shooting one trying to steal his lighter. :D

Storage Building

Storage Building

I like storage Building. NM would still need to installed in a manner that would prevent physical damage and protection from elements.

What exactly needs be there for the cooking issue ?The rest is likely to be in place, perhaps outhouse.I lived fine in a tent in a KOAcampground for over 6 months.

An outhouse would not be part of the structure. A dwelling unit must have permanent provisions for sanitation, living, sleeping and cooking. A camping stove is not a permanent provision. Sure we can bolt it to the counter, but.....

An "outdoor privy" is an accessory structure to a cabin in a similar way to a cabana being an accessory structure to a mobile home. If this "outhouse" is an accessory part of a cabin containing a solid-fuel burning device (fancy name for a woodstove), then there are permanent provisions for sanitation and heating. Add a cot and there's sleeping. Where you can sleep, eat (cook on the woodstove, like Grandma did), and go to the outhouse, there's living taking place. This would meet the definition of dwelling unit...true? Solar wiring would have to comply with the NEC in effect as would any other type of electrical installation. :) Remove any of these components and it's a type "U" building, not a dwelling.
