Maybe at one time but I do not think this applies today. Comp time would never do me I have always worked 60+ hours a week, several years without a vacation. When would I use comp time?

if your company has that much work, why not hire more people?
I take 5 weeks vacation , all holidays off, 1/2 days the day before the big holidays, and multiple 3 day weekends in the summer.
If you work it - you should take the money. As far as over paying in taxes, it all comes out in the wash at the end of the year - if you over pay, you get a refund.
If you find you work a lot of OT then change your withholdings and they will hold back less - pay less tax - and less of a refund or owe.
