Well there's a potential increase in my future:cool:, i've bid on a charging station for my town, 2 dual charge units, 4----40A via 200A UG pedestal service.

I'm told users gps the next available 'station' , because they can only travel so far on one charge.

... implications for our electrical systems are not as certain.

In the USA, IC engines will look cheap if the green folks get all the coal and nuclear plants closed down, so likely mostly hybrid vehicles that can generate their own electricity. .
Can even envision letting one's car run during peak residential electrical use hours and feed the line for payback or not paying 80 cents kW-hr peak rates.

Technically, a yes to overall question, but it is more political than technical. Batteries and power electronics are the 'drivers'. Future chargers likely to be matrix topologies for being either motor drive or inverter to feed line.
Some prognosticators even envision charging car batteries from the grid at peak supply times and feeding the line during peak load times.
All depends on political rate structures in USA, other areas ????
