is this an electrician's job?

I'm wiring a house , and the home owner is too short to reach the kitchen hood controls , so he bought a hoodremote control that goes in the wall (over the kitchen counter), now I did the wiring for this hood , eliminated the hood controls and install the remote control , is it something that an electrician normally does or this is an appliance person's job ?

Don't know where you live, but appliance persons do not do wiring here. They are unlicensed an only work inside the appliances.

Oh, you did that in the appliance. In that case, I sometimes do things like that , if the money is right.

Out here anything electrical is the electricians job. If it's something new fangled and you don't feel comfortable doing or are not getting paid for Don't do it.

It is wiring and the appliance man better not be doing it. He cant even legally install the hood fan.

There is such a thing as a remote control for a range hood? Like a 3rd party add-on? In a chapter 3 method?

Anyway I have done a number of hood controls - the type meant and intended for the unit..... And yes - it's was my job.

Even if it was some low voltage or RF thingamajig in today's economy why give it to somone else to make the money?

Depends if you are in business to make money or not. I hardly ever say NO, I say that will cost you $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.


If you can't do it they will find someone than can and next time they need something, who do you think they will call?

In addition you then become a specialist in that product, especially if you deal with manufactures regarding the issue with installation, nxt time someone call the manufacture and need help they may recommend you.
