Well guys, I hate to burst your bubble, but if you don't have a flexible connection to the HWH, then how do you make that final, but oh so important connection to the HWH.

I know you wouldn't be suggesting something like connecting the wires before the conduit is run ;-). B/c if you have a rigid installation, that is the only way I see that you could possibly even finish connecting the HWH. Next if you ever have to service the HWH at the connection to the building's wiring, then what are you going to do, remove your conduit too???

You need to learn fast that your boss likely underestimated the job, time, material.Thats likely why he won the bid, he was the lowest bid.If material was not figured in then he likely did not figure the hours for that extra material either. Also note that they love to tell you low number of hours to motivate you.Get smart early and only do commercial, wish i had.

we dont bid jobs, T&M all the way! I'm not saying he underestimated the job, I'm saying he looked at the job but forgets to tell me something I need for the job.... I just love that....

Not only that i've never seen the same height water heater get put back when it's time for replacement.... I know I would NOT be too happy to have to replace a whip, or install a junction box if they were using the panel as a disconnect...

I usually wire with NM. I would have secured the conductor within 12" of the disconnect and zip tied it to the cold water line within 12" of the connector on the water heater.
steve.

Yes me also, I always leave a service loop of wire at the heater also... 12" at least....
