Isolated Grounding for Computer Panels

From my understanding of this subject, it was originally done when EMT was used as the equipment ground, noise would be introduced where locknuts, couplings or connectors where not tight. Nowdays except for some places up north, conduit is no longer used as an equipment ground.

I have heard some posters on this forum (most from the mid atlantic/mid west area) state they use the conduit for the equipment ground, which is legal with approved fittings, but most engineered drawings call for a seperate equipment ground anyway.
