Have someone telling me a particular xfrmr is an isolation type but I'm not convinced. Is there a way to tell if it's a regular k rated etc. or isolation type? Thanks

Your typical step-up/step-down power transformers are isolation transformers but the term isolation isn't tossed around much until you get to specific applications requiring isolation. FWIW a separately derived system transformer is indirectly required to be an isolation type transformer.

All xfmers are isolation by definition. When someone uses that term, they are usually implying a 1 to 1 ratio like 208v to 120/208 to establish a new sep derived system and electrode for the purpose of isolated 220% neutrals....and those are typically K rated
