I've heard of the IT room ESTOP buttons that have a clear cover over them, and an alarm that lets everyone know when the cover is lifted.

Does anyone know who makes these? I'd like to specify a manufacturer and a part number for a project.

Steve

In addition to the local audible alarm, I also like to have the integral 24V rated contact on the cover, monitored by the BMS and/or security system and I send the on site work force running to try and stop the "offender"

Thanks Bob. That's just what the doctor ordered.

Ron: Too bad they don't have one with an integral Tazer. That would slow the offender down a little.

Does IT equipment ever actually catch fire anyway? Or is this a requirement that started with Vaccuum tubes, and never got deleted?

Here's an STI cover in its native habitat:

No matter what it is I would have made it easier by keeping the pull located on a vertical section.
I'd have liked that too, but there was a print detail on this. It was FPL cable. Not sure it was 2-wire, though. I think it was more than that because you'll never pull this thing again if it goes bad without dismantling the storefront.

Around here that would have to be MC cable, or surface raceway with wiremold or EMT. I've never had to put a PS in a storefront, but I don't think the MC would bend too easily around the corners. The fire alarm MC we have to use is the real steel kind too...not like MC Tuff.

So if thats on a storefront, and the approaching vehicle doesn't stop and takes out said storefront along with the really prettily installed switch, what happens...?
I guess somebody's insurance buys new front doors?

The panel goes into trouble mode. The guy buying a gallon of milk and paying for $20 worth of gas doesn't get to finish his transaction.
