Looking at it another way (using your orbit numbers) it would take about 6x10^14 people to de-orbit the earth.
And the mass of the earth is about that of 10^23 people. So the process is really quite efficient, but the scale of the original assertion was way off.

1 Gigaton explosion, if underwater, would probably displace all of the water in every ocean, killing everyone with a miles high tsunami. Good thing people can't spontaneously fission, tho at times I have wished that some people would spontaneously combust with a glare. :rant::lol:
