It's that time of year.

From the years when I did nothing but service work, I remember some of the unique "gotta have it fixed now!" calls. From what I call the the electrical test season... Thanksgiving, X-mas, and New Years are the biggest electrical draw days short of the SW in in Summer. Everyone is going to go to someones home and turn EVERYTHING on. And the days when that over-loaded already resturaunt panel gets a few hundred extra watts applied to it. That Office party at night.... Or that store that had to out-do the competion with their lighting display.

If you haven't already - go put a few 100, and 200A fuses on the truck. Then give thanks that you're not a plumber!

Happy Holidays!

I rememeber the calls for baseboard heat as it got colder or someone had a room off to the side that wass to be a holiday guest room..Is baseboard still a common install in residential?

Yes it is around here. But not in my house. They spin the meter to fast. This time of year is a great time to be in the extension cord and multi tap receptacle adapter business. That reminds me, I promised my wife to put out all the Christmas stuff on the lawn today. My wife is the AHJ around here for the next 4 or 5 weeks. I should take pictures of the cords and connections.

We do have a lot of 60 and 100 amp fused services in houses around here. I always have extra fuses on the truck for late night calls. I keep every one when I do a panel swap if the customer is ok with it.

Most builders I work with on apartments install them. But if you put in too many, the meter will torque itself right off the side of the building!

Just installed 3 rooms of baseboard heat in a old house with no insulation except a little in the ceiling. Some places you can see right through the walls. I dont want to think about their bill this January.

I hope you get paid before that bills comes! :)

Did a job for a guy couple years back who is big into the Xmas lighting thing..installed 100amp outdoor service and buried lines and put up outlet posts all over the yard..Him and his dad made allot of the decorations..Dad has now past away and it has allot of meaning to him and his son..It is really cool family tradition..and it is still the home of multi tap and extension cords..

I've seen places like that. Very awesome to see. My wife's stuff is all powered from a 20 amp GFCI circuit for the most part. Lots of extension cords and multi taps. Funny thing is we live way out in the middle of no where and very few cars go down our road. But she sees the decorations and that's what counts. And the multi outlet strips I use on the lawn, are in her words, "suitable for wet locations unless it rains real hard." I still chuckle at that one. Everything is up and running though.
