If you hanging a j box from slab with t-rod and insert/anchor ONLY at what size would you use two separate rods or would use always use one rod(before having to add strut) and use large diameter rod? Thanks

What size is the box? A 6x6x4 might need one 1/4" rod, a 60x60x24 might need 4-1/2" rods.

Exactly. I'm building assemblies for my estimating database. Can you use just rods without strut for a 60x60x24 box?

Yes you don't need strut.
