As I've read (mostly on here) the jacket of THWN-2 isn't needed once pulled in if it won't be exposed to gasoline or oil. That being said, at what point do you question whether or not the insulation itself is likely to be damaged, weakened, stressed, etc. Is it mostly visual inspection? We've used megger testing for underground insulation, is this a typical test for above ground conductors as well? Or conductors installed in buildings?

Aside from being ugly there doesn't appear to be any damage to the actual insulation. If it passes a megger test I would consider it to be fine.

I wouldn't loose sleep over it. I have seen many installs like that- ugly as Trevor stated but if there is no damage to the insulation then don't worry about it.
