Jbox size for SER splice?

I was asked what size Jbox was needed to splice a #2 SER feeder cable on a residental job & wasnt sure about the answer so I thought Id bring it to the forum.
I said to calculate it by the actual diam. size of the SER & then use box fill calcs, or calculate what size conduit you would use if it was used & go that way. But Im not 100% sure.
 
You will need to size the J-box in accordance with 314.28(A). Take a look at the last paragraph of 314.28(A)(2), this will tell you how to transpose cable size to raceway size.

So, im gonna say #2 SER = 1 1/4" conduit x 6= 7.5= 8"x8". Thats what I was thinking, thanks for the code reference. I read that part this morning, but I guess I was still sleeping............
