Re: Jumping Meter Socket with #10 Wire

What is their stroke of genius in not energizing a building until after the final inspection again?

That still boggles my mind.

You fellas need to revolt.

Re: Jumping Meter Socket with #10 Wire

Roger,
Bob, even if they stayed with the receptacle, they could invest in a legal pad and some pencils and simply use an Assured Equipment Grounding Conductor Program and a proper cord during the time the house is connected to the temporary.
The cost of doing that far exceeds the cost of the GFCI.

Re: Jumping Meter Socket with #10 Wire

Don, there is no argument from me if we were going to do it through out a project, but not for the amount of time it would take to hot check a house.

I could install a new 50 amp breaker and receptacle, (which would be removed and taken to the next job) do the required test per 590.6(B)(2) cheaper, with less labor, and aggravation; than purchasing and toting a transformer with an illegal cord assembly around.

Re: Jumping Meter Socket with #10 Wire

The 50 a gfci breaker on t poles have been required here for 2 years by the pocos.A far male to male cords that is why the twist locks.Fuseing is done with an inline holder.
We have tried for almost 10 years to get a meter set before a close, the closest is only when hard wood flooring that requires a certain humidity is installed and then all devices are to be set all boxes blanked la la la.
Stupid ,yes welcome to the sushine state that baked the officials brains.
Bryan is it the same by you?

Re: Jumping Meter Socket with #10 Wire

Just a foot note about the t poles,as of right now we have more than 2,500 in the field.I could live on the cost of gfci`s for awhile. :D
Yes the cord isn`t UL listing but it saves alot of trouble when a day before a close you find that vandals have removed or cut alot of wire

Re: Jumping Meter Socket with #10 Wire

Allen, what does the POCO's have to do with it?

What do they do if say, we have a 400 amp (or larger) temporary feeding pumps, machinery, lifts, cranes, ect...?

You have said that your company was going to wire 3000 homes this year, yet you still have 2500 t poles stranding in November, so you are saying you have only done 500 homes up to now.

Somebody better get going, there's only 50 days left.
