Why not do the last 9 years 8 months 337 days and 11 hours and retire with full benefits?

LOL, I gues the way you posted your time in the service may be a clue to the answer.

There was a time when I planned on staying in 20+ years right now I would have only 10 months left. But I was tired of incompetent people and the time I got out was during the force draw down. (you know cuz we just had to many military people) Many highly skilled people were leaving for a large check cuz we wern't needed any more, I could rant for hours FULL BENIFITS! Did you see how many times I moved in 9 years? I broke every rule the AF set up about moving people. And if I had not gotten out I was in for another move. For all of you with no military experience let me enlighten you... When you sign up what you do is give up your life liberty and persuit of happiness for minimal pay to protect a population that doesn't understand you and couldn't really care less about you. Don't deny it, it is the truth. FULL BENIFITS that is a joke! (something else no one understands) unless you mean the benifit of getting your ass blown away. I enjoyed most of my time in the service and would never change the experience for anything BUT..... I am happier now.

Is there anyone that could tell me the average pay rate for someone like my self.

Most non union JW in Nebraska make about $22 - $25 on the check, and that is close to union scale. Shops that are straight commercial/industrial draw more than one that is mixed with residential and a pure residential shop would pay the least.

Hey minuteman, I don't mean to question but where have you worked in Nebraska? I have been working in the field there and outside of Omaha, I havent seen that kind of wage without many years of experience.
Out in "the rest of Nebraska" you can get $12-$15 as a green journeyman. In a good facility $17.

Thanks everyone for your input, sorry I have not replied sooner, but I work from 7am to 2pm electrical, then 3pm to 1200am thru the week. and will be working two 12 hr shifts this weekend. I have spoke with the union rep and will be starting the paper work soon. Thank again for eveyones input and will get back as soon as I get a break. Be safe and take care!

I attempted to re-write this post with no focus on labor groups, but since my own NJATC experience may remain objectionable to some, this re-write attempt was placed it in google groups, behind an adult content warning page.

Roger it has nothing to do with it being objectionable to the 'some'.

It has to do with this forums policy and that policy is we will not discuss the pros or cons of union or merit shops at this forum.

There are plenty of opportunities in NE to work organized or not. Outside of Omaha/Lincoln area, almost everything is non. Pay is lower but cost of living is also. It just depends on if you want to live in smaller towns or rural areas or bigger ones.
In greater NE opportunity is wide open and you can basically write your own ticket.
