Just when I think I've seen it all

....

So it's back to the supply house Monday for a credit with this one. I gotta admit it.... this is the first I've ever seen something like this. In any brand of breaker. New or used.

Are you going to bring a service call invoice to present for payment along with the defective breaker? (Assuming this was a new breaker)

I believe it is a Customer Complaint Report (CCR). The part is returned to the factory and it gets evaluated by the 'Quality' group and a formal report is generated, ideally a root cause was determined and a preventative course of action outlined.

Not usually worth it for a simple 'broken handle', but might be for 'internal shorted parts'.

That's between the supply house and Group Schnieder.

Not worth the time or effort.

Actually the complaint would come from you, the customer, the supply house probably doesn't care.
The company name is Schneider Electric and has been for more than 15 years now.

I agree it is not worth it for a broken handle. But remember, this is an option, for when you want a problem or condition to be elevated.

I find it unlikely he would be resetting it with a hammer. If it broke from him turning it on then something else was already wrong with the part.
Over the years, I've seen many live panels containing breakers with their handles broken off. Presumably, these were not all defective at time of manufacture. Which means it's not uncommon for people to somehow abuse the breaker handles and snap them off.
