K = Constant

K is the placeholder for the constant of resistivity in the Voltage Drop formula 2xKxIxL/Cm. Was K given as the designator so as to be named after Kirchoff? If not, why is K given as the placeholder.

"K=ohms * circular mil per foot of conductor", which I believe equals 12.9 for copper.It is just the average DC resistance for all wire sizes.
No provisions for PF or the AC characteristics of the conductor.

The letter K (or k) is often used in formulas to represent a constant. The German noun for "constant" is "Konstante" and that may have influenced the choice.
