I could possibly interprete the example photo as a pennisula -- where the support post is located a recept is not required as per less than 12" wide -- A pennisula would allow only one recept at the end -- complete compliance -- Its ok to be creative here

A peninsula does not require a receptacle at the "end". Most of the time the end just so happens to be the easiest place to put a receptacle and meet the requirement of at least one receptacle serving the peninsula counter top.
