Eaton FAZ series DIN rail circuit breakers are available online, 1 pole for $19. 2 and 3 pole are available as well, in C and D curve. Still more expensive than a regular circuit breaker but cheap compared to list price on an AB 1489 breaker. And they are basically identical in form, fit and function.

that is about what we pay for the ab ones. a lot more than $3 still.

I would hazard a guess that an EC could manage to run a residential only business via the BB stores, but include about anything else and a supply house is a necessity, not an option.

A lot of people don't know how easy it is to get an account at a supply house. They think you have to spend lots of money to have an account. It takes a little more to get a line of credit.

Most of the supply houses will sell to anyone off the street that have a credit card ( many don't accept cash) but the prices will vary as to how the treat someone off the street.

I went to Grainger to get an electric motor for a piece of equipment ( for kind of a friend). I still have an account that I almost never use and the price was considerably cheaper. I had them put it on my account and they let him pay with his credit card. Since he is a business owner he could have set up his own account and probably end up buying as much as I do through them.

I had a chat with someone about this. It turns out the price for just the box really is insane. However, if you buy it with the bus installed already it is a LOT less.

My suggestion is getting a price for the box with the bus installed instead of piecing it together yourself.
Make sure to include breakers, accessories, contactors, starters, and anything else from same manufacturer you need on same order.
