Installing a Kohler 12RESVL manual states to you 20/2 belden cable. I can't seem to find this cable very easily and when I have the price is astronomical. Has anyone wired a Kohler before that has used a different brand of shielded wire that is easier to come by and more cost efficient? Thank you.

I have seen every hack job known to man and it still comms just fine.

The comm power wiring OTOH is another story. Use 14 AWG if the run is long, the control board may not have enough power otherwise. It does not run off AC from the ATS, rather 12 volts DC on 2 of those wires.

Just use whatever shielded twisted pair is handy and meets their gauge specs.

It’s low speed data, so probably any shielded cable would work. What they spec is probably 600 volt rated, so that’s why it’s expensive. Run it in a separate conduit from the power wires. Technically not legal because it is in the same enclosure as the power wires.

Home Depot Has a 22-2 shielded security wire at .18c / ft. 500' ft rolls.

Never run com wires next to high voltage. Even when shielded. Drain it on one end only.
