I have a customer that wants to put landscape lights on the same transformer as his pool lights. The Xfmer is an Intermatic px300 the pool light is 50 watts 12 volts. Would this be a violation of the nec??
No, its a listing issue not a code issue. Swimming pool transformers are listed for use with underwater fixtures not lighting systems operating at 30 volts or less which have power supplies listed for that purpose.
This should be a link to the transformer that is employed . It can be used for pool lights and landscape lights , I'm not sure , do low voltage landscape lights always come with a transformer?? The pool lights did not but this transformer was recommended and was provided separately from the pool lights.
There is also nothing in the pool light instructions that say only the pool lights shall be connected to the transformer.
My instincts tell me it is not allowed ,but I can't find why or where
