Large Solar system on 200 amp panel

OK, I think of a "supply side connection" as effectively being a service with only the PV on it. So once you add some loads, it's no longer a supply side connection, it's just a second service. I think the terminology would be cleaner if the whole "supply side connection" stuff went away, and it was just treated as a service.

Is there anything that (2020) 705.11 allows that you can't do under (2020) 705.12 via a feeder interconnection just after the (distribution less) service disconnect?

Cheers, Wayne

. Code aside, it's the same thing practically speaking, the only important difference being the presence of loads on the connection.

I dont think you really have to have "other loads" to call it a 230.40 EX #3 install. I think without any other than PV loads, it becomes somewhat indistinguishable from a supply side connection with a combiner panel, but I dont see any code language that would require it to be treated as such. But yeah, Y'all surly remember I frequently rant against the "supply side connection" concept and would prefer it just be a 230.40 ex #2 (or 3) install.

Yeah I think you know I agree. 705.11 could just say that a supply side connection is permitted as allowed in 230 and reference the appropriate sections.

And don't call me surly.
