Yup. I left the leads in the current terminals and someone else measured voltage. Another time I shorted something on the load side and zap went the fuse.
I did some experiments on ground voltages in my yard. Since inherently one always has a loop when making a measurement the possibility always exists that part of the desired measurement is from magnetically induced voltages in that loop. So many times I will create the same loop but without the desired signal and see what undesired signal may be present.
It turns out that in my yard I have a very low level of AC magnetic field.
This is not always true on the shop bench.
