Can I temporary them on 120 volts and change to 277 when permanent power is available without damage?

I have done this, as far as I know they have no memory. Results may vary.

Seems I have heard that it will not work the other way though. Once connected to 277 it will no longer work on 120volts

yes you can Change Volts At any time The power Supply / Driver will handle this. I have seen The 277 Side stop working and the 120 side still work...
