Led on incandescent dimmer?

Is there a safety issue using an incandescent dimmer on led load. The dimmer doesn't work but it does switch the light on and off. The Lutron I purchased and installed apparently was not compatable and I didn't have a regular switch so I installed the original dimmer to get the light operating.

Safety hazard ??

No issue that I know of.

I would hope not. There are a lot of people out there that have installed CFL or LED bulbs in lights controlled with dimmers.

Why not just use a regular light switch? They cost peanuts.

yes..... I didn't have one on the truck, was going to get one then go back but the traffic and everything else is a killer in that area, would have turned into at least 2 hrs to get and replace it... so I stuck the dimmer in...

MUSHROOM......... too funny...



so I should be good and not have to take the trek back......
 
If the customer leaves the dimmer in an intermediate position instead of using it just as an on-off switch it might eventually damage either the LED or the dimmer. Not likely, because the dimming operation would likely be unsatisfactory, but it could happen.
 
I really don't think it's an issue. If it was, you would see a big warning on all the LED bulb boxes saying not to use it with an incandescent dimmer- especially since they warranty those bulbs for many years now.
