LED retrofit pricing

If this has been asked and you can point me in the right direction please do, thanks. I’m trying to price up some LED retorfits for a customer. This particular job is around 700 fixtures. The bulk of it is 3 and 4 lamp T-8 lay-ins in a Office area. There’s around 150 8’ 2 lamp T-12 in the warehouse. My questions are : how many hours per fixture? We’re assuming the 4’ T-8s will get the LED lamps and ballast will need to be bypassed. The warehouse I’m not sure I can even get 8’ LED lamps and that might just need to be fixture swaps, unless you guys can recommend better product? Thanks everyone!

I would price it at 15 minutes per fixture, and yes, they do make 8' LED tubes.

Definitely go with the type that don't keep the ballast energized.

Thanks, I was thinking somewhere in that range. Just with this being what I consider a larger job, 3 compared with 4 fixtures per hour is a big difference

In addition to these questions, are you having to package and/or dispose of the old lamps? how many busted tombstones do you think you're going to come across in 700 fixtures? How many emergency lights would also need battery pack replacement? Are you going to have your own lift? How much is working around employees and normal operations is going to slow you down?

15 minutes per fixture seems a little ambitious to me.

Eta: actiondave beat me to most of my points.

Seta: you do realize that even if you average 18 minutes per fixture, that's 2,100 extra minutes or 35 hours of labor. I'd rather bid this high and lose it than bid it low and lose my behind..

We have found that it's usually faster and close enough in cost to just swap out the old fixtures for new LED fixtures, especially with the 2x4 lay in fixtures in the office. A lot of good examples and things to think of have already been brought up. I think 15mins a fixture is pretty aggressive given the occupied office environment. The warehouse fixtures should take more than 15 mins each since they are most likely high up and not a normal 9-10 aff.

Not sure about New York but here in CA we have energy codes that require complete lighting system change when retrofitting or replacing a certain amount of fixtures.
