A kitchen designer wants me to install LED or Xenon under cabinet lights. I am a big fan of the Kichler line.

Anyone ever use LED's? I never have..About how much more do they cost ? Who makes them? Thank you for any help

Never used LEDS, always Xenon, for what its worth, Kitchler are alot more expensive than NSL but offer the same under cabinet light...

I generally use NSL's xenon undercabinet lights. When I last checked (maybe 6 months to a year ago) there didn't seem to be any UL listed LED undercabinet lights out yet. I've had several customers ask for them, but I was unable to help them in that regard. There was plenty of product like that for the marine industry, but I didn't really find any with a UL mark. Have you found any yet?

I still prefer fluorescent lamps for undercabinet lighting.

I did a google search for LED undercabinet lights and found this. I never heard of the manufacturer before so I have no idea about the quality.

I have two issues with zenon lamps for undercabinet lighting. The heat from these make the bottom shelf of the cabinet too hot and the lamp life is too short.

No Marc, I haven't found any good ones yet but I haven't given up. The designer requested the led's for heat reasons. Seems LED's never need bulb changing as it turns out. Sounds good but I'm sure there's a catch to that somewhere.

My supplier keeps them in stock, a real winner with the home owners... google for an online store if your local supply house cannot get them for you... great color selection also..

My SH does not carry them...google it shall be.

How much do they cost ...say a 3-lamp, 26", direct wire?

They start at $24.50, and I think they end at $45.00, not to bad, the only thing I want to mention is that I usually only feed these with one wire and use the center KO, but when installing the 9" light, there is no center KO its 5" off center.... that one got me pretty good... :)

Do you have an install guide/instructions you could scan and email me?

or just answer....

These lights I need will have 2 NMs (12/2? ...don't remember) ...will the connector accept 2 cables?

I had seen some that did...Kichler or Juno?

Nothing a unibit won't take care of..., they actually have a 1/2 ko on the back...

Sylvania makes a nice line of commercial products, but they are components for use in MAKING light fixtures, i.e. they are UR (recognized), not listed. That means someone who wants to build their own fixture using these parts and then submit that fixture to UL for listing can do so by simply adding these to their established UL procedure, but you cannot use them on your own as stand-alone products.
