It is a silly argument though. Pretwist or no, as long as the wire nut is installed properly it is good to go.

FYI, I read the bag the wire nuts came in as well as the sheet from the manufacturer, basically it stated to not pre-twist connections. SO therefore I dont do it. UL violation of the product I use. most connections I see were not done with any care: line up the ends, don't cram 17 12ga wires into a tan, over twist with vengange, all the common mistakes.
