Guys, what on earth does it take to get a level that is actually level? I think many/most people never check their levels. Go into big box and try to find one that passes the 180 test. It's unbelievable, they are almost all off. I bought a Klein a few months ago and checked it, it was good. Just noticed todY it's off 😡. Buy only stabila maybe? I think they replace them for free if they ever go south.

All I use now is stabilia for all my levels now torpedo-6’ . I use to use checkpoint torpedos but they started to turn to junk .
Stabilia levels with rare earth magnets are legit

Yeah so sick of this. I have a few larger stabila s. Think I'll get a torpedo for my electrical work.

They are quality . A little bigger and bulkier than the typical electricians torpedo level but nothing crazy and it stays true ! Been using the same stabilia torpedo for 4 years and it’s been used everyday during that time and still reads dead nuts level .

1st, relying on an 8" level is just luck. Especially when the bubble doesn't fill the marks and you're trying to level a 20' item.
Check that the magnets are flush or below.
Age is relevant for both the user and his tools.

I've thrown a few out that wouldn't measure close enough when reversed.

OT but not: Helping to sight in my son in laws rifle with a new scope. My 1st look thru, I noticed the cross hairs weren't vertical. He said they looked good to him. OK. He is the one shooting it.
 
Nothing but Stabila for me, but I’m also a remodeler/framer. I have multiple sizes, you really need to match the size of the level to the size of the work piece. One of mine extends to 12’ for plumbing walls.

I have a little torpedo that goes in my electrical bags, but I only use it for installing boxes and panels and such. Even conduit runs will get a longer level or a laser.

Mostly for setting panels and cabinets and such, and box cut ins..

there is a level app on the i phone. also shows degrees

Same I always have a stabilia torpedo on my but when mouting gear , panel boards and meters or any equipment the size of the level used is based on the size of the equipment lol you can’t expect to be able to use a torpedo to actually level and plumb larger pieces of equipment . Won’t be 100% accurate

Nothing but stabilia for me for the last 4 years, from my stabilia torpedo has been used on a daily basis for the last 4 years and is still dead nuts accurate , I keep a set of 3 stabilia magnetic levels in the van as well 2’, 4, and 6’. Never really use the 6’ level . Any piece of equipment big enough to need a 6’ level I use lasers for. But they are the best
 
Thats a good thing to do, flipping..since they get banged up.

I recently had to restock on levels for trueing up machine tools..
I always grab 3 of each one and try them stacked on the shelves, or even better, find a column.

Sure as shooting- you will find duds...

I’m always happy with Milwaukee I’ll admit I’m a Milwaukee fanboy lol. But my experience with their levels has not been great .there was sale so for the hell of it I bought a 4’ and a torpedo last year they were both trash . It just reinforced my thoughts on stabilia only lol
