Is the conduction of noise through hard piped conduits ever an issue? If so, it's probably less of a problem with the usual "transformerless" inverters.

Yeah there's essentially no vibration from modern inverters. The main reason I do it is to facilitate a quick inverter change out if necessary. Of course if you have to replace it with a different inverter, all bets are off that the whip will reach as is.
