I was told of a new rule/law that will go into effect 1/1/09 stating that "only licensed electricians can work on electrical equipment with 50V or more". Is there any validity to this? I am in the State of Wisconsin. Thank you for your insight!

Sounds like more work for the EC :D!!
Good-bye LV companies (LOL---Joke) :)
But to answer your question, i have no idea!!

Haven't heard of that but a number of years while in the supply house a man at the counter said that he was licensed up to 110volts.

That sounds reasonable. Most phone, cable, computers or stereo are less then that.

Depends

Depends

States vary and so do laws and the posting of the laws. In NJ anything over 10 volts requires a license unless you get an exemption such as lanscape installers. I also think they are cracking down on cctv/alarm installations but existing companies are going to be grandfathered. That what I have heard.
