Good morning!

I'm the electrician for a small construction company in tennessee. We have a job coming up in Chattanooga.

I have my LLE, which is not enough for Chattanooga. Is it more efficient to to get the journeyman for the city now and get my CE later this year or get the CE now and just apply for a city Master?

To get the Chattanooga Class 1 License (equivalent to the State CE) you would need to document experience as a licensed journeyman.

If you obtain your State CE, the City is required to issue you their Class 1 and Journeyman licenses based solely on your CE license...of course when the appropriate fees are paid :)

So, I would get my State CE and avoid a lot of the BS required for the City Class 1 without having the CE.
(In Chattanooga a Journeymans license only allows you to work under a Chattanooga Class1 (commercial) or Class II (residential) contractor)

That makes sense. It's really what I've been thinking myself.

Would getting the city journeyman be worth it or is it just at that point I'm already taking a test, get the more useful cert?

If you are going to obtain your State CE I would not bother to take any City tests..no need
