I am doing volunteer work on our church. It was built in 1884 and the earliest knob and tube was about 1920. I have heard that the lifetime of safe wires is judged by the quality of the insulation. Are there requirements or recommendations for this.

In replacing the knob and tube, I understand everything is to be in conduit of armored cable. Where is there specifics on this spec.

Thanks

I am putting a temporary hold on this thread. This Forum is for electricians, inspectors, engineers, and other persons who make their livelihood from the electrical industry.

I cannot tell from your member profile whether or not you fit into this category. However, your question makes it clear that you are planning to perform electrical work at this church, and it appears to me that you are not an electrician. We are not permitted to provide ?how-to? assistance to a ?do-it-yourself? person.

If I have misjudged this situation, then please send me a Private Message explaining the circumstances. If you are a licensed electrician (or at least a licensed apprentice), then I will reopen this thread, and offer an apology for the delay and inconvenience.
