Hello, this question is in regards to a municipal lift station wet well consisting of 2 pumps and 4 signal floats. class 1 div 1 in the wet well and around well perimeter (under certain conditions). Each have their own factory cable attached. I am sure you know where I am going with this. The pump control panel will be about 5 to 10 feet from the lift station wet well. With the panel so close, I would like to run the cables thru conduit to the panel below grade going out the wet well side and stubbing up into the exterior pump panel.
However, I am familiar with NEC article 400, specifically 400.8.6 which says the cord can't be installed in raceway. The reason I want to run the cord right back to the panel is the factory cable is long enough and want to avoid splices requiring rated juction boxes.
400.7.A.6 thru 9 allows the cord, does this mean the opening line of 400.8 will allow the raceway to be used? I believe I can not use 400.14 because the conduit is below grade.
How else could this installation be performed?
Thanks
