What is the entry way on the bottom/side of the poles called where the splicing takes place. I think I have heard it referred to as an access door or handhole although I only know of the handhole that is in the ground. THanks.
 
the one that is a bit higher up the base it is called "hand hole" with minimum 2" x 4" opening.
there is also one called "hinged base pole" where the pole tilts for access to the base and conductors.

Thanks. Yeah, I thought hand hole was common.
