Here's the question?

1)I have an open supply conductor OCS(Overhead Catenary System) above 750v (actual 834Vdc)strung horizionally beneath a grounded steel Bridge structure member with 8" to 9" vertical clearance with no insulating barrier.

a)What does the code allow for mimium vertical clearance between contact wire and bridge structure?

b)What does the code allow for mimium vertical clearance between contact wire and bridge structure with 1/4" thick +/- Glastic or Fiberglass Board barrier installed?

c)Answer:Code references and tables?

2)Qaulified Person? In the hiring of an apprentice Lineman and/or Electrician working live voltages in excess of 600 volts (hands-on and/or prox)what is the base line for work experience, education and training requirements?

a)What are the NEC, NESC code references, OSHA, IBEW and Industry standards?

The NEC does not cover the installation of conductors for "rolling stock"

2002 NEC 90.2(B)(3)

Just my 2 cents. Our company did the new trolley station that did the new system in Tampa Florida. We didn`t do the system but the station but in conversation with the guys that were installing the system they told me that they had specs to meet and that was it .They had a fed.guy that insures they comlpied with the designed system as in proposal. So I guess as long as it was installed as designed its all good ..........
