Can anyone tell me where in the 2020 code where it says that in residential lighting circuits that the home run or power from the panel has to go to the switch first instead of the light? I was told this by an inspector who says there has to be a neutral wire in the switch box for future automatic lighting switches. Never heard of this before. Not disputing it, just want to see it in the code book. Thank you

Guys I found the answer to my question about the neutral in the switch box. It was already on here. Thanks for all you guys do.

Simply put, feeding the switch first is but one way of doing it, and avoids needing 3-conductor cable.
