Lighting Contactor Sizing

If a lighting contactor was designed as Nema 3, with a 60A resistive heating load the 250% max rating is 150A. The Nema 3 spec provided 100A service which would suffice for 125%, but not the 250%. The manufacturer supplied a Nema 4, 200 A contactor with a 200A CB instead of the 90 A CB spec'd. Is this ok, it doesn't seem to meet code, but I am in the field and do not have the proper tools.

Thanks in advance.

What is the load rating and type, 60A resistive? Where does the 250% factor come from? I assume you are talking about NEMA size 3 and size 4 lighiting contactors.

A: Yes, 60 FLA, resistive heating

From the wrong section and me not thinking before typing

Yes: NEMA size 3 and 4 lighting contactors

Thanks for reviewing my problem. I did a few calculations and I have to have the manufacturer replace the contactor and circuit breaker.
