i have 4 HID (ballast) circuits with a calculated load of 21 amps each and to be controlled by a 6-pole lighting contactor that will not switch to off during a control circuit power failure or individual HID circuit fault condition. if wanted to use a mechanically held contactor i see that the max amps available is only 20 amps. Why not 30 amps rated contactors for this purpose? Do i need to go with a magnetically latched contactor? What's the difference?

I have installed mechanically held lighting contactors up to 225 amps 600 volt and have seen them in 400 amp versions.
