Lighting Controls Above Ceiling

Is it acceptable per NEC to place a daylighting control module above an acoustical ceiling (in a nema 1 panel with DIN rails)? This control module only needs to be accessed initially to set the programming for daylighting and doesn't need to be touched after that. We also want to mount the same thing up high in an open area (no ceiling)... any issues with that?
