The question ask for the demand lighting for a 3000 SQF Dwelling unit. Do I need to included laundry load and Small appliances? or just exclude them. I just want to be sure 100%. Thank you guys

I got this demand for lighting only.

6.15KW

6000 x 3VA = 12,000 VA (3000va @ 100%)= 3000va
reminder-------------------(9000va @35%) = 3,150va

You're method is right, but your math is wrong.

3000 x 3VA = 9,000 VA (3000va @ 100%)= 3000va
remainder---------------(6000va @ 35%) = 2,100va
Total........................................................5,100va

the small appliance branch circuits and laundry have to be considered in the genral lighting load.

3000sq.ft. X 3VA/sq.ft = 9000VA
2(min Code required) SABC (1500VA each) = 3000VA
1(min Code required) laundry (1500 VA) = 1500 VA

13,500 VA
- 3,000VA (1st 3000VA @ 100%)
10,500VA
10,500 VA X 35% ( 35% for 3001-120,000VA)
= 3675VA + 3000VA = 6675VA general lightin load.

That would be the Code min. if you had more SABC's in the example, you would add an additional 1500VA

220.52 (A) and (B) says SHALL BE permitted to be included with general lighting loads and subject to demand factors, so you say that even if questions is asking for lighting demand load the small appliances and laundry loads shall be considered??

IMO, if it is asking the a lighting demand load, I would only include the lighting. Small Appliances and Laundry circuits are not lighting.

The small appliance and laundry loads are considered part of the general lighting load for demand factors. Even though it is called "lighting" load it is not just the load for lighting outlets for demand factors.

If this is a test or educational question, with no explicit direction otherwise, I would not include the SA&L loads.

If an actual load calculation I would include them in the demand factoring.
