Hi
I was asked this the other day. Is it legit to plug in permanently installed under cabinet lights to a dedicated microwave circuit. Running the cord through the cabinet.
I say no as stated dedicated circuit.

Adding additional load no matter how small that load is makes the original circuit no longer "dedicated"

That said if that was simplest way to add these lights I would do it anyway, assuming you are only adding limited amount of lights, adding 1000 watts of lights would not necessarily turn out so well, but then again it may work better then many think it would, keeping the circuit from tripping when the microwave magnetron first is energized is the first issue, after that most cook times are only a couple minutes or so and probably would hold on a 20 amp breaker if cooking durations were kept short.
