Hi gentlemen,

Are there any other lighting panel boards out there besides Square D QO120VH which come with high magnetic breakers? I'm looking for breaker curve that has instantaneous region that would not trip on ~ 480 Amp for 2 ms. QO breaker has instantaneous region set at 12X the nominal current rating, but I'm not sure it would ride through the inrush, since time axis starts at 0.005 ms.

Thanks!

Do you mean QO120HM? I thought the VH was 22K AIC and 240 straight rated but with pretty much the same trip curve as the regular QO?

In the old days they offered a QO120BR with a bronze armature that provided thermal only tripping. It was obsoleted in the early 80's. I remember selling them for use with CATV repeaters.

A few years after they were introduced the QO115 and QO120 were given a faster tripping time (it is called Qwik Open tripping). All of the other QO breakers had more typical trip curves so they introduced the QO120HM which behaves like most other breakers. However the QO120HID should have a even higher magnetic trip point because it is intended to handle the inrush currents of HID lighting.
