I'm having some trouble on a job I need some input I have assembly of fluorescent fixtures that customer must have dimmed and wants to change the LED there are

6 -4 footers
4-3 footers

anybody have any experience or can recommend a brand where I can get dimmable LED t8s and retrofit these fixtures?

Are the current flourescent ballasts already dimmable with a 0-10v dimmer? If so, i ran into this problem last year. We had to bypass all the ballasts, and put in line voltage dimmers. The only bulbs i could find where from a website called ELEDLIGHTS.COM, and honestly they kind of sucked. All the bulbs are still working, but the light intensity is mismatched even in the same fixtures. At least you'll know to avoid these

Any chance the 4ft fixtures are lay in? There's a ton of great LED lay in fixtures out there these days. And they're mostly under $70 a fixture.

No there all single bulb fixtures ganged together no 0-10 v dimming I found some bulbs on Amazon I'll try them bypass the ballast and see how it goes

I just did a ballast-bypass LED T8 4' retrofit at my house, just to make sure I knew how to do it. :cool:

The tubes I bought have a 120V input on the two pins on one side. The pins are the other side are for support only. Turns out my fixtures have a shunted tombstone socket, learned after an hour of research into my bolted fault condition. :ashamed1:

I had to order new unshunted tombstones (readily available on Amazon and marketed specifically for this application) and will be reassembling the fixtures today. :ashamed:

Now I'll have a few extra tombstones already on hand and be prepared for this. ;)

Pet Peeve: It's very easy to be a lot more specific in the subject line for the thread. We're in the Lighting section and the thread title is merely "Lighting." :huh:

I had the opposite learning experience recently, didn't notice that one end was dummy, and hot and neutral same end (after doing dozens with hot one end and neutral the other), so I had neutral hooked to dummy end, and hot to both pins on working end

wish it had only taken me an hour of research, probably more like 2 (including the last 15 minutes during which I read the instructions) plus trip to supply house

At least you did it in the proper order. Read Directions last.

Get out your checkbook! Those dimmable tubes w/ballast bypass are almost double what the non-dimmable ones are.
 
Yes I've noticed that but probably still cheaper than replacing all the fixtures wiring etc
