lightning protection

I am not so sure on the requirements for lightning protection for new industrial structures.

I am involved in the design of a new emergency electrical equipment storage type structure which will be lower than 75 ft high. I am not entirely sure of sq. ft area.

In my opinion the requirements of NFPA 780 are not entirely clear.

Do all new structures require lightning protection or only certain types under certain circumstances?

It depends where the site is. Check with the fire marshal for that jurisdiction.

I was not aware that any jurisdiction required lightning protection.

I thought it was only required if there was some special reason to have it.
