Lightning Strike Home Inspection

Everyone, I have had a couple friends houses who have recently been hit by lightning and I have gone over and Inspected their houses for damage. I checked all the ground terminals in the meterbase, pannel, etc. I also used an insulation tester on the wires of a suspect circuit ( friend called the fire department and they replaced a fuse for him. The fuse blew immedatly according to the fireman) but when I checked it all seemed fine and I had about
750 megohm's resistance to ground. I have put the fuse back in and it worked fine. Is their anything else I need to check. Do you all reccomend that I insulation test all circuits?

It is not a bad idea. Best idea is to avoid getting involved. Don't forget to make sure everything is unplugged and/or disconnected first. Disconnecting and reconnecting will probably take longer than the actual testing.

if it actually did get hit by lightning, it is an insurance issue and should be dealt with by the HO's insurance company.

In regards to the fuse blowing as soon as it was put in, they could have had something plugged in that had been damaged. Kind of along the lines of what petersonra was mentioning.
