Line Reactor

I'm ask occasionally whether to use a 3% or 5% Line Reactor ahead of VFDs. My general response is, what does the supplied power look like? If it's a little noisy or drifts + / -, I'd recommend a 5%. If the power is clean and stable then 3% should be fine.
Any other opinions on when and what size Line Reactor to use?

I always view line reactors as protecting the facility power system from the VFD noise or protecting the VFD from too much fault current, so the quality of the supplied power is usually of little concern.

I believe the line reactor is used to protect the drive from a low impedance power supply. Still just how do you size them?

Usually per the VFD instructions. Mostly I use 3% for fault current reduction.
