Line voltage and low voltage in the same box

I am inspecting a high-end condo complex in CA. The builders are using a Crestron smart house system. Can the nm cables(line voltage) and the 24vdc cables terminate in the same outlet boxes (Carlon Boxes)? Where would I specifcally find the code section?

You need to know if the 24 volt cable are supplied by a class 2 or class 3 system. This information is in Article 725.

The voltage rating is not the issue, the classification of the power source is the issue. Rob already pointed this out.

Where is this rule in the NEC?

First of all, the NEC does not use the term low voltage.
A power limited circuit can be introduced into a power or lighting box/enclosure for interconnection. but a 1/4" minimum seperation is required at terminations. See 725.133

The key is finding out what type of low voltage circuit you have. If it was a class 1 remote control and signaling circuit you are ok.
